NEK045: Blood Room / ISSHU - no comply | tape

Blood Room, Co-founder of SEAGRAVE
and ISSHU, one of the label's core artists,
teamed up and collaborated on 'No comply', a project
that stands with one foot in real everyday life hustle and with another foot on a sometimes hazy and sometimes dark dream.

No Comply is an 80s skate trick which is loosely attributed to the skater Neil Blender (at least, it is considered that he named it, because when he saw it he said it made no sense). Blood Room's first pro deck was a
G&S Neil Blender 'Faces' deck. Most skaters of his age who started in the mid-80s loved Blender because he was a true punk, all style, and was an illustrator and did his own graphics.

And as Blood Room tells us, to him No Comply is an old school technique and it echoes an era before things got too polished or smooth.

The two London based producers, children of Hip Hop and Jungle music,
are wandering around the roots of rave culture with their own unique raw and unpolished signature style. Their sound dark, dirty and at times tribal, makes you feel like you are walking midnight hours in between South East London's grimy council housing estates and sometimes like you are lost in a rainforest somewhere in Tahiti, where unearthly sounds and voodoo rituals surround you!
